Privacy
SeePet is built so that your home, your video and your pet’s data stay yours. This page explains, in plain words, what happens to information when you use SeePet. It is provided by MAVE DIGITAL LTD.
In short
- Video and analysis stay on your computer. We never receive your camera streams.
- No image or video is ever recorded or sent over the internet — alerts are text only.
- Alerts sent to your iPhone are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read them.
- This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party services.
What stays on your computer
Camera addresses and passwords, the meal log, activity timeline, behaviour notes and settings are stored only on the Mac that runs SeePet. Passwords and pairing keys are kept in the macOS Keychain.
What leaves your computer
Only when you pair an iPhone for alerts: each alert — text only: title, message, reasons and risk, never a picture — is encrypted on your Mac with AES-256-GCM using a key that exists only on your Mac and your iPhone, then sent to the SeePet relay. The relay also sees the risk number, the alert severity and the camera name so it can show a short push notification.
Your SeePet account
If you create an account, we store only your email address, a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself), the name you choose and the pet profiles you add (name, species, breed, birthday, weight, colour, notes). No camera details, addresses, images or video are ever stored in your account. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from the Mac app, the iPhone app or the account page.
The relay
The relay stores, per home: a random home identifier, an authentication key derived from your pairing secret, your iPhone’s Apple push token, and at most the last 60 encrypted alerts and pending commands. It cannot decrypt any of them. You can run your own relay; the source is included with SeePet.
Apple Push Notification service
Push notifications are delivered by Apple. The notification shown on your lock screen contains only the risk number and the camera name; the details are decrypted inside the app.
Camera accounts
If you add a TP-Link Tapo, Eufy or Wyze camera by signing in, SeePet uses your credentials only to list your cameras and connect to them locally. They are stored in your Keychain and are not sent to us.
Your choices
- Unpair all phones at any time in SeePet → Phone. This makes existing encrypted alerts unreadable.
- Delete all local data by removing the folder “SeePet” in ~/Library/Application Support/.
